Pinhead Circus
Everything Else is a Far Gone Conclusion

The first song on an album has to rule, because it usually sets the mood for the rest of the album. Pinhead Circus follows this formula. From the get go, these guys keep you rockin’ out. That’s not all. The album comes complete with samples from Scarface and Footloose, and a Rick Springfield cover. Song 6 goes into some crazy stutter strum stuff.

Pulley
"Self Titled"

Pulley is one of those all star bands made up of guys from great bands like Strung Out, Budget, Face to Face and No Use For a Name. Leading the pack is Scott Radnisky, formerly of Ten Foot Pole and the legendary Scared Straight. This self-titiled third release rules. If you dig any of the bands these guys are from, this is a must have for your collection.

  Speak 714
"The Scum Also Rises"

Speak 714 is the latest project from the legendary Dan O’Mahoney. This guy is the creator of some of my favorite bands like No For An Answer and 411, so I was stoked to get my hands on this. The Scum Also rises consists of four great songs covering positive topics like moving mountains, getting away from reality and overcoming troubles. I saw 411 in ‘92 and I will tell you that Dan O knows how to put on a great show. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a tour and full-length album. You should too.

The Judas Factor
"Ballads in Blue China"

We listened to this one in the Truckstop office about five times in a row, so I knew it was great before I got home and really checked it out. This band gives you an impressive combination of styles that really gets your attention around song five. It takes you from fast, thick hardcore to melodic guitar solos. Perfectly layered on top are the poetry like lyrics, which can all be found in the inside cover. I love this style, it reminds me of earlier Revelation bands like Iceburn. I’m more than stoked to add this one to my record collection.

Throwdown
"Beyond Repair"

This is their first full length and it rocks. Throwdown is tough, thick riffs, and loudness, but that's not all. Drummer Marc Johnson and guitarists Tommy and Brandon break it down song after song, change after change making for an unrelentless attack. If that's not enough, the cd is camo.

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Are a Drag

Those guys are fags. Not since the days of Dick Trickle (an attempt at a NASCAR band) or the Ho-Mos (a drag Go-Go’s cover band) has this much fun been brought into music. The band is a combination of members of some of the more popular Fat bands going right now. Including members of NOFX, Lagwagon, Swingin’ Utters and No Use For a Name, the "Fat Pack" has brought life to classic show tunes. The album starts out with an obnoxious interpretation of "Over the Rainbow" and rolls into obscene renditions of "Tomorrow" and "The Phantom of the Opera Song". My favorite is the Generator style version of "Favorite Things". There is even a cover of "Rainbow Connection" for all of you a Muppets fan. Fine job by a bunch of silly drunks.
